How to Hear from Colleges and Scholarship Programs
Student Search Service® (SSS®) is a free service that helps match your child to colleges and scholarship programs. Basically, your child provides information about himself to the Service. Colleges that are looking for just those characteristics may then contact him for recruitment.
How Does My Child Participate?
He will be given an opportunity to say "yes" when he:
- Signs up with rokstudent.org
- Registers for the TOEFL if applicable.
- Registers for the SAT if applicable.
- Send admission requirement.
What Information Is Reported?
The following information about your child is sent to colleges, universities, and scholarship programs:
- Name
- Address
- Sex
- Birth date
- School
- Grade level
- Ethnic identification (if provided)
- Intended college major (if provided)
The SSS doesn't report your child's scores.
All who receive information from SSS are required to maintain strict confidentiality. The College Board and ETS actively review all uses to ensure adherence to guidelines.
Does This Mean My Child Will Get More Mail?
Yes. Before you know it, brochures and catalogs will make their way to your mailbox. Reading this material is one way to learn about colleges and what they have to offer and is a chance for you and your child to dive into the college search.
